*Group Rules & Guidelines*

1. Everything Must Be Free or Bartered

No cash sales: This group is strictly for giving items away (gifting) or trading items directly (bartering).

No strings attached: Gifts should be given without expecting anything in return. Barters must be agreed upon by both parties before meeting.

2. Prioritize People in Need

Be considerate: If you see someone requesting an item who is clearly in a tough spot, give them priority.

No hoarding or reselling: Items received in this group are meant for personal use or direct help. Taking items just to flip them for a profit on other sites is strictly prohibited.

3. Clear and Honest Posts

Use tags: Start your post title with [GIVING], [WANTED], or [BARTER] so members can scan easily.

Show condition: Provide clear photos and note any defects, missing parts, or expiration dates (for food/baby items).

4. Safe and Respectful Communication

Be kind: Rude behavior, judgment, or lecturing someone about their situation will result in an immediate ban.

No public personal info: Do not post phone numbers, addresses, or financial details in the public comments. Move to private messages (DMs) once a gift or trade is confirmed.

5. Reliable Pickups

Show up: If you agree to pick up an item, stick to the time. If plans change, message the giver immediately.

No-show policy: Repeatedly failing to pick up an item without letting the giver know may result in removal from the group.

6. Safety & Public Meetups

Public spaces first: Whenever possible, arrange to meet in a well-lit, public space (like a grocery store parking lot or outside a police station).

Porch pickups: If doing a porch pickup, only share your address via private message once you’ve confirmed the recipient, and never leave highly valuable items unattended.

Bring a buddy: If you are meeting someone for the first time or going to a home for a large item, try to bring a friend or family member with you.

7. Strictly Prohibited Items

To keep all members safe and comply with legal guidelines, the following items cannot be given away or traded in this group:

Expired safety gear: No expired or crashed car seats, bike helmets, or outdated baby cribs that don't meet current safety standards.

Medication & Medical devices: No prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, or specialized medical equipment.

Opened or expired food: Only sealed, unexpired non-perishable food items are allowed.

Hazardous materials: No opened chemicals, flammable liquids, or weapons of any kind.
